- Microsoft Windows NT Server
- Microsoft's flagship 32-bit network operating system, which provides high levels of security, manageability, reliability, and performance.Runs on servers based on Intel, Alpha, and MIPS processors, includes preemptive multitasking and multiple threads of execution, and supports all major networking protocols. NT Server supports fault tolerance with disk mirroring, disk duplexing, RAID (redundant array of inexpensive disks), and UPS (uninterruptible power supply) monitoring. The user interface is similar to those available in other members of the Windows family. The latest version of NT Server includes Internet Information Server (a Web server), DNS Server, and multiprotocol router support. All popular interprocess communications protocols for distributed computing are available, including Windows Sockets and Remote Procedure Calls (RPCs).See also Microsoft Windows 2000.
